Taqasim Music School at Ealing Global Festival
Teachers and students of Taqasim Music School will play at Ealing Global Festival this Sunday 22 July 2012, at 3:45 pm.
Taqasim Music School is a project launched by ARK with the aim of providing affordable access to the music heritage of the Middle-East and promoting dialogue between music cultures.
Under the direction of Oud master Ahmed Mukhtar, the school runs courses of Oud, Arab Guitar, Maqam Music Theory and percussions.
Students and teachers from the school will perform traditional music from Iraq and other Middle-East countries, accompanied by professional percussionists and musicians.
Well-known traditional melodies will be played, in alternation with moments of Taqasim, the improvisation style which represents the deepest form of expression of Middle-Eastern music.
