Origami (paper-folding) Workshop
5th of May 2012 from 12 pm - 3 pm
You are invited to join our new exciting and inspiring workshop.
Places are very limited. The workshop is free.
About the technique:
Origamic Architecture is a form of paper craft using a combination of cutting and folding to produce 3 -dimensional "popup" forms from a single sheet of paper. The technique was originally developed by Japanese architect Masahiro Chatani in the 1980's based on elements of kirigami (paper-cutting) and origami (paper-folding).
About the workshop leader:
Elod Beregszaszi, is a paper folding artist experimenting with origami and kirigami for over 12 years, and specialising in kinetic abstract "collapsible" paper models and architectural facades. You can find out more about his work on his website: www.popupology.co.uk
The Festive Origamic Workshop aims to provide a basic introduction to folding/cutting techniques to develop simple ornamental pieces that can be used for x-mas tree decorations or 3-D greeting cards. The first project will be to create foldable snowflake designs using templates and simple cutting tools (scissors/craft knives) following easy-to-understand instructions (see images).
For the introductory workshop, 3 hours sessions with the possibility of follow up courses to develop skills further using more complex techniques. Dates to be arranged.
Templates, paper materials, cutting tools and pencils/rubbers to be supplied by ARK or by arrangement.
